|
Sunday July 1, 3 pm
Please join us for a free guided visit led by CAG Learning Programmer Heidi Reitmaier, as she explores the work Matthew Monahan and Josephine Meckseper in relationship to other contemporary cultural practices.
Heidi Reitmaier is currently developing the learning program at the Contemporary Art Gallery and is a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia. She is the former curator and director of Public Programs and Education at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Before her move to Canada, she was Curator of Public Programs at Tate, Director of Talks at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, an arts programmer at the BBC and a Lecturer at Central St. Martins School of Art and Design, London, UK. She has contributed to several books and international art magazines as well as written catalogue essays on Sarah Lucas, Anish Kapoor and Anya Gallaccio to name a few.
The survey exhibition of the work of Los Angeles based artist Matthew Monahan spans the entire gallery space and showcases select work made during the past eight years. This is the last weekend to view the Matthew Monahan exhibition.
American Leg is Josephine Meckseper’s first exhibition in Canada; eight new sculptures presented in the gallery's street-front vitrines.
Guided visits provide visitors with an excellent opportunity to develop new tools for interpreting contemporary art. For more information about guided visits or to book a visit for your group please contact info@contemporaryartgallery or
